Luis Brunstein has a doctorate in economics with more than 20 years of professional experience. He currently teaches at University of California Los Angeles and California State University San Marcos, and has taught at several institutions across the United States including Georgetown University. Brunstein has also served as an expert witness in court cases involving undocumented immigrants, has advised ecological NGOs, and immigrant advocacy groups. Additionally, he has worked as a Director of Negotiations of gas and oil exploitation in Argentina. His research interest includes progressive policy sustainability in emerging markets facing an ever more unstable global socioeconomic environment. He has a regional interest in the economies of Brazil and Argentina and their impact on the rest of the southern cone region.
